Assistive Technology Support
What is assistive technology?
- Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software, product or system that is used to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
- AT aims to enhance an individual’s independence and has a large role to play in enabling pupils with a disability to take full advantage of their educational potential.
- Windows, Apple and Microsoft products now include accessibility options/assistive technology, and this has extended to portable devices such as tablets and smartphones opening up a greater variety of technology to students with disabilities.
