Habilitation for the Visually Impaired and Blind
Habilitation training is one-to-one training for children and young people with a vision impairment. Training begins with existing skills and then aims to develop the child’s personal mobility, navigation and independent living skills.
Habilitation can support young people

- to develop emotional well being, self confidence and self esteem
- to achieve the maximum degree of social inclusion
- to use specialist tools and aids to mobility and independent living
Who else benefits from Habilitation training?
The aim of habilitation training is to ensure all who work with or support the child or young person with a visual impairment are provided with the correct information, guidance and support necessary to enable them to take an active role.
