Through boy's group, girl's groups and PSHE lessons in the Summer term we teach our pupils about relationships following Islington's advice, the guidance of various disability health organisations and healthcare professionals. As pupils get older we talk to them about the changes in their bodies and use a variety of puppets, videos and online resources to help them to know what to expect. We use circle time to think about emotions and how their feelings towards others may change as they go through puberty. We openly discuss sexual feelings and help young people to know what is and is not appropriate in different contexts. We also work with parents on this and the psychologist is happy to run parent groups around this issue.
